Prohibition Partners was founded in 2017 with a vision for a legal cannabis industry where the abundant economic, societal and health benefits of the plant can be realised around the world.

We have quickly grown to become the most trusted provider of data, media and technology for the global industry with our group of companies ultimately split across Technology & Data and Media & Events. Stephen Murphy

CEO & Co-Founder

Stephen is Co-Founder & CEO of Prohibition Holdings, a global leader in cannabis tech, data and media. Stephen is a highly regarded cannabis thought leader, who frequently contributes to Bloomberg, Financial Times and The Economist on the industry and regular public speaker, having presented at over 100 events including, SXSW and Adweek. He collaborates with investors, entrepreneurs and regulators to identify, qualify and maximise the opportunities in the global cannabis industry. With a background in technology, digital media and corporate finance, Stephen has worked with clients including Unilever, Sony Pictures and Universal Music.

Chris McCormack

Chief Finance Officer

Chris started his career in investment banking in London with firms including JP Morgan, Credit Suisse and Blue Crest Capital Management. From banking, he moved into tech and supply chain management as Finance & Commercial Director at Applegate Marketplace.

Jon Hogg

Chief Product Officer

Jon is Chief Product Officer and MD of Prohibition Partners. He has a background in disruptive technology, telecoms, e-commerce and FinTech. His Experience covers start-ups to PLC’s where he has helped raise close to £200m through angels, private equity, and IPO. He was co-founder of Beenz.com, cited as the first ever virtual currency, and has held leadership roles at BT, Sema Group PLC (ATOS), The University of Cambridge, Sybase SAP, SurfKitchen (Samsung) and Blur Group PLC.

Gavan Raine

Chief Technology Officer

With a background in commercial SaaS architecture and deployment, Gavan has worked in a variety of industries including telco, retail and medical sectors. His experience includes scale-up design, with a solid understanding of architecture and methodology principles, as well as certifications including network and cloud design to cybersecurity for internet infrastructures. Solutions have been deployed to customers such as British Gas and Target, including Black Friday additional capacity. In addition, Gavan has built and shaped various operational teams to provide optimum availability to all customers, ITIL standard support and participated in numerous successful ISO certification applications.

Rob Reid

Chairman & Co-Founder

Rob is an experienced entrepreneur and early stage investor who co-founded Prohibition Partners, Lyphe Group Ltd (UK), Awakn Life Sciences Corp (NEO:AWKN), Revmed Srl (Italy) and Psych Capital Plc (AQSE:PSY). He previously held CEO roles at ECH Ltd, a European cannabis incubator; and SOL Global Investments Corp (CSE:SOL), a prolific investor into the more developed North American industry. His background is technology and media – on the corporate side as managing director of Advertising M&A Ltd and before that 15 years running a digital consultancy with clients such as Diageo, RBS and Coca-Cola.

Kieran Flanagan

Vice President, HubSpot

Kieran Flanagan, the VP of Marketing at Hubspot, has a proven track record of helping SaaS business, from start-ups to enterprise-level, grow their traffic, users, and revenue. At Hubspot, he currently helps scale their international business, move its go-to-market towards freemium, and manage all global customer acquisition teams. His astounding results include doubling Hubspot’s blog traffic from 4 to 8 million in under 16 months and relaunching all their websites, with a $6 million gain in ARR. He was also the Inbound and Search Marketing Manager at Salesforce.com and Online Marketing Manager at Marketo; an Adobe acquired company specializing in marketing automation software.

Lorenza Romanese

MD, European Industrial Hemp Association

A veteran policy advisor and communication manager at the European level, Lorenza Romanese has led EIHA’s efforts in Brussels since February 2019. She has worked with a number of MEPs to propose hemp reforms to the Common Agriculture Policy in the European Union and other European policies. Lorenza previously advised interests in the oil and gas sector and led the European Association of Independent Winegrowers. She is a native of Italy and graduated from the University of Gorizia with a Master of Arts in European Affairs.

Events and Media Sales Manager (Remote)

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an Events & Media Sales Manager to join our growing team. This role will be responsible for delivering revenue across our portfolio of events; with a main day to day focus on selling exhibition space & booths, but also secondarily across sponsorships and partnerships. 

We are looking for someone who can also work with a growing list of clients on a day to day basis to ensure the smooth delivery of campaigns sold. The business culture of the company is dynamic, fast growing and would suit someone who is hard working, ambitious and resourceful – who also isn’t afraid to get on the phone from time to time.
